Why is it that shopping for an outfit to wear to a wedding makes for a sartorial nightmare every single time? It seems to present more of a conundrum then trying to fit another outfit into an already over-packed suitcase. So what’s all the pressure about?
I’ve realised in my years of being a stylist that when it comes to shopping for an occasion (and a wedding is an occasion on heat), that the confusion always seems to stem from four apprehensions; 1, What is acceptable. 2, What is comfortable enough to wear from day-to-night after consuming massive quantities of champagne. 3, A huge fear for anything white (or black for that matter). And 4, the question that arises before any event, ‘What will everyone else be wearing’?
Whether you’re looking for a one off statement piece or a dress that can see you through this years wedding season, I decided to investigate a variety of styles that will make finding an outfit for my readers a whole LOT simpler. In my round up there are pretty pleats, romantic florals, classic silhouettes, block colours and unexpected seasonal slip dresses. Whichever of these ensembles best suits your personal style, it will ensure you hit the bar (and the dance floor) in style, without committing the cardinal sin of over-shadowing the bride 😉
