With the turn of a new year comes the turn of a mandatory new year work-out regime; Researched fitness programs are put into place, healthier meals are recorded and all beauty products are upgraded. 2017 is a particularly important year for me to take control of my fitness and general well-being routine. I’ve started the 6 month countdown to my wedding day and I’m determined to feel the best I can in the dress of my dreams! There is no denying the effect chic activewear can have on ones motivation, it can instill a positive pre-work out state-of-mind. I’m all for championing new brands, I just think that there is more fun to be had then sticking to a Nike or Adidas work-out wardrobe, and so to get you through the gym doors this January, I’ve put together 5 high-quality, stylish gym-bound brands that will get you to the gym looking stylish and ready.
Founded by Australian model and TV presenter Jodhi Meares, The Upside strives to make a healthy lifestyle attainable through practical and stylish fashion. I particularly love the brands’ uniquely refined prints, although perhaps it is the sculpting tights, signature street chic muscle tee-shirts and versatile recovery hoodies that are the main attraction to the brand. The Upside will be sure to keep you looking effortlessly chic during your workout; can you think of a better way to stay motivated in the gym? (££)
There is no doubting Whistles as a go-to high-street brand for chic minimalism. When I learnt that the brand were teaming up with the founders of London based fitness studio Frame – Pip Black and Joan Murphy – I knew it was set to be a stylish and practical collaboration. The designs that make up this capsule activewear collection are of a neutral colour palette, suitably stylish for both pre and post workouts as well as delivering optimum exercise performance. This is the perfect blend of minimalism and Frame-worthy function, convenient for every style-obsessed gym go-er. (££)
Side-tracking slightly into the beauty world because this is a wellbeing product I just had to share with you all. I started taking Viridian Beauty Complex in mid-december when yet another outbreak of adult acne led me into a frantic skincare research session. I thought that if you ate healthily, exercised regularly and drank in moderation that glowing skin was a given, but sadly I’ve somehow managed to revive my youthful teenage pores, mush to my dismay. With a deep breath and a re-focused (positive) mindset, I came across Viridian, a leading brand in ethical vitamins. Beauty Complex is a combination of vitamins, minerals and plant-based phytonutrients used to support the underlying structures of healthy skin, hair and nails. Biotin is it’s main ingredient and this contributes highly to the maintenance of healthy skin. I am pleased to say that I have already seen good results – I would give this product a glowing review (£)
Founded by Australia’s super stylist Pip Edwards, P.E Nation embodies a tomboy attitude towards gym dressing that embodies Pip’s well-known aesthetic. This is an activewear concept that’s as much about multi-tasking as it is about exercise. With a great collection of skirts, tee-shirts and hoodies, P.E is also a street-wear style brand that has a chic and current fashion thread running throughout it. My favourite pieces from the brand include their Hybrid Sports Bra (£75) and Centre Pass Leggings (£95) – shop these styles below. (££)
I came across Lilybod whilst watching London Live and fell instantly in love with the brands sports leggings, which (first and foremost) are designed to fit firm and smooth against your body. With an array of prints to choose from, Lilybod will make a colourful addition to any active-wearers wardrobe. In addition to the bold all-over patterned styles, there is a subtler style which comes in the way of a sock like detail around the calf; A particular favourite of mine. With a style to suit all personal tastes, I highly recommend these performance pants – they’ll be sure to help us put our best foot forward in 2017! (£)
